How to choose the right industry LED lighting for the factory?

Industry Lighting is a critical component in the functionality and productivity of industrial settings, with factory environments being no exception. Adequate and well-designed lighting systems not only ensure the safety of workers but also contribute to operational efficiency and overall performance.

How to choose the right industry LED lighting for the factory?

1. Height of the factory

 - Lower factories (4-6 meters): You can choose LED flat panel lights or LED batten lights.
LED flat panel lights(90-100lm/W) have a uniform and soft light without glare, which is suitable for small processing plants and assembly workshops;
LED batten lights have higher light efficiency(110-130lm/W) and a wider range of illumination, which can meet the lighting needs of general production operations.

 - Higher factories (6-12 meters or even higher): High-power high-bay lights or low-bay + high-power LED corn lights are more suitable.
These lamps can provide sufficient light intensity to effectively cover the entire working area, making them especially suitable for large factories and warehouses.

2. Environmental conditions

The appropriate lamp structure, material, and type should be chosen according to the plant's temperature, humidity, vibration, dirt, dust, corrosion, explosion, and fire hazard media.

‌- Dust, moisture, or corrosive gas environment‌: You can choose waterproof LED Batten lamps, which have good moisture-proof, dust-proof, and corrosion-resistant properties. They have a protection level of up to IP66K and can adapt to harsh environmental conditions. In chemical production workshops, the corrosion resistance of waterproof LED Batten lamps can ensure their long-term stable operation and reduce the risk of production interruption caused by lamp failure.

-‌ Explosion-proof environment‌: In special factories with explosion-proof requirements, such as petrochemicals, coal mines, etc., explosion-proof lamps, such as explosion-proof LED lamps, must be selected. These lamps are specially designed and manufactured to work safely and reliably in flammable and explosive environments.

3. Determine the LED lighting method and light intensity

General lighting, or main lighting, is generally placed on the middle top to provide overall lighting. The number is usually arranged according to the size of the factory. For places where the illumination requirements are not high, where it is not suitable to install local lighting due to production technical conditions, or where mixed lighting is unreasonable, general lighting should be used alone.

According to the lighting plan, choose the appropriate type of lamp, such as recessed lighting, pendant lighting, move available lamps, etc.

- Light intensity: Different factory areas have different light intensity and uniformity requirements.

For example, the production line requires higher light intensity and uniformity to avoid production accidents.
Therefore, when choosing lighting fixtures, it is necessary to consider the factors affecting light intensity and uniformity.

Different lamps and installation methods can reasonably be applied for places that require high light intensity and uniform lighting to ensure consistent lighting effects throughout the factory. This not only improves work efficiency but also provides the safety of workers.

4. Consider lighting effects and comfort

Most factory workshops or warehouses have high floor heights. If the lighting is not bright enough to illuminate from top to bottom, it cannot meet the basic lighting needs of workshop production.
Therefore, lamps must be chosen with sufficient brightness to meet the high light efficiency brightness requirements of factory workshop production.

In addition to basic operating stability and flicker-free lighting, lamps' color rendering index cannot be ignored to improve the comfort of lighting effects. Lamps with high color rendering index illuminate objects more vividly and can effectively reduce visual fatigue caused by poor color rendering.

Choose LED lamps with appropriate beam angles to make the lighting more uniform, without shadows and glare, to ensure workers have a more comfortable visual experience in a long-term working environment.

5. Pay attention to the heat dissipation and safety of lamps

The lamps in the factory need to be turned on and off frequently, which puts high demands on their heat dissipation performance. Poor-quality lamps may be damaged due to poor heat dissipation. Therefore, when choosing lighting fixtures, you must consider their heat dissipation performance and safety.

In addition, you need to consider the lamps' power and voltage to ensure they will not affect the factory equipment.

For high-risk environments, such as chemical plants, petroleum, coal mines, and other flammable and explosive places, LED batten lamps must have an explosion-proof design with unique materials, a sealed structure design, an explosion-proof power supply, etc., to ensure that they can be operated safely and do not produce sparks or flames.


* For ordinary clean factories, if the waterproof function is not required, more indoor lamps can be selected, such as LED tubes, LED downlights, LED panel lights, LED linear lights, etc.
